Kamon was designed by Tonda Helm, based on old
Japanese crests.
The quilt's name, "Kamon," comes from the Japanese name for the
family crest motifs. It should also remind us that it took our
own family of quilters from the Lakeview Quilters Guild to
create this beautiful modern version of family crests.
The 24 members of Lakeview Quilters Guild who contributed with their needle artistry to this project were Linda Ainsworth, Carolyn Allison, Elaine Bishop, Kris Bryson, Jenny Chiovaro, Cynthia Clark, Jean Cloyd, Jerrianne Evans, Marsha Fuller, Denise Green, Tonda Helm, Beth Johnson, Sharon Mayer, Margaret McPhail, Mira Noble, Donna Pierpoline, Merridy Pyer, Barbara Sickler, Mary Jo Thompson, Sandy Thompson, Linda Wells, Cynthia Williford, Marian Woods, and Georgann Wrinkle. Merridy Pyer, Mary Jo Thompson, and Joan Wroblewski assisted Tonda Helm in assembling the top. Cristyn Merry added the finishing touch to Kamon with her quilting expertise.
All of the fabric for Kamon was generously donated by Painted Pony ‘n Quilts, LaPorte, Texas. Be sure to thank them for their generosity and support when you visit their shop. |
